FIRST CIRCULAR

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to take part in the 11th International Conference on Archaeological Prospection which will take place in Warsaw, Poland. The Conference is organized under the patronage of The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, The Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the International Society for Archaeological Prospection.
Over a decade ago, in 2003 Poland hosted scholars interested in archaeological geophysics in Cracow. The event is worth remembering, at least for establishing of ISAP, which took place during its course. Bringing the conference to Poland’s capital shows the vitality of the Polish archaeological – geophysical milieu which made a significant progress during this time.
All relevant information concerning the venue, programme, accommodation and events will be found on the Conference website: http://www.iaepan.vot.pl/ap2015/ which will be activated soon. Information regarding the site’s activation will be delivered via email and will be announced on the ISAP website: http://www.archprospection.org/conferences

Venue

The Conference will be held between Tuesday, 15 September and Saturday, 19 September 2015. From 15 until 17 of September, sessions will take place in the conference centre in the Old Library of the University of Warsaw, located at the heart of the main University Campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście street. The campus is found in the very centre of Warsaw, near the historical quarter. It can be accessed easily by bus and subway. The venue boasts modern auditoria and conference rooms fully equipped with audio‐visual facilities. The main auditorium, seating up to 300 people, is located on the first floor of the Old Library. Posters will be presented in two rooms on the second floor, adjacent to the room for exhibitors. The coffee break area is located between these rooms.
A special session on archaeological feedback is planned on 18 September. The session will be held in the Copernicus Science Centre (to be confirmed). The CSC is a state-of-the-art institution that popularizes and promotes science education and also - which makes it unique among institutions of this kind - the importance of archaeological heritage. It is located on the Vistula river bank within 10 minute walking distance from the Old Library.
The last conference meeting, on visualization in archaeology, will be held in the Palace of King Jan III Sobieski in Wilanów at the outskirts of Warsaw. The Wilanów Palace complex, in the Baroque style, has historical interiors that are classified as some of the most interesting in Poland. The presentation will be followed by a guided tour of the Palace.

Sessions

Oral presentations will take place in the main auditorium of the Old Library. Similarly to previous conferences, the organizers do not plan parallel sessions. Presentations are planned for 15 minutes. A 15 minute Q&A session will take place after each topic block.

Three poster sessions are foreseen during which authors will have a chance to present their research.
