3D visualitation for the study and management of complex archaeological sites

Dear Colleagues,

We have the pleasure to announce the opening of the call for the Third Specialization Forum "3D VISUALIZATION FOR THE STUDY AND MANAGEMENT OF COMPLEX ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES",

organised in the framework of the European Radio-Past Project.

The Forum will take place from JULY 2 - 7, 2012, in HAINBURG (AUSTRIA), near /Carnuntum/, a location that is appropriate for the focus on data interpretation and virtual reconstruction. Following the standards of the past two years, the teaching staff will again consist of academic and specialist lecturers from excellent European research institutes.

EC FP7 Programme People” – Marie Curie Actions IAPP Project RADIO-PAST

Third Specialization Forum


Carnuntum (Hainburg - Austria) 2nd – 7th July 2012

In the framework of the FP7 Marie Curie – People IAPP project “Radiography of the Past”, a series of three High Formation Summer Schools (2010-2012) will be organized. This third Summer School is especially concerned with visualization, interpretation and virtual reconstructions of complex archaeological sites.

Teaching strategy: theoretical topics and case studies, hands on applications, practical IT based sessions and lab activities with the aim to interpret, visualize, present and reconstruct archaeological data and ancient landscapes data.

Official language: English.

Location: Archaeological park of the Roman site of Carnuntum and the “Kulturfabrik” located in the nearby village of Hainburg, not far from Vienna and Bratislava.

Participants: up to 25 participants, master students, master degree holders or doctoral students and specialists wanting to deepen their experience in these topics.

Participants will be selected on the basis of their CV. Their English proficiency must be very good. The registration form (for admission request, available on line at www.radiopast.eu) must be submitted before March 30th, 2012, at the attention of Mrs. Cornelia Fischer by e-mail: cornelia.fischer@sapo.pt
Admitted participants will be informed in due time (before April 15th 2012) and they will be asked to pay the participation fee before June 1st 2012.

A certificate of participation will be issued by the Univerity of Evora, the coordinating institution. Minimum attendance is 90% of teaching hours.

Costs: As the teaching staff is partially financed by the EC, participation costs will be limited to: EURO 320, including didactic materials, accommodation (in double rooms) and meals (full board) in hotels in the village of Hainburg, site visits and use of lab facilities. Participants who want to stay in a single room will have to pay an additional sum according to the different reservation condition.
