Symposium "Survey in archaeology, often a neglected science", Giurgiu, Romania

19/7/11 .- http://www.archaeolandscapes.eu

Dear Colleagues,
We are glad to inform you that we organize an international symposium entitled «SURVEY IN ARCHAEOLOGY, OFTEN A NEGLECTED SCIENCE from the 23rd to the 26th of October, 2011.
The Symposium is dedicated the fields of research that provide the spatial identification, recording and analysis of the archaeological discoveries. We are considering the ensemble of directions of research generally named as “survey”: archaeological topography, aerial photography and photogrammetry, geophysical studies etc.
Considering the large number of new techniques (GIS, Lidar, Remote sensing), we would like the presentations to be focused on basic principles. In other words, it is desirable that the discourse is directed to the general archaeologists by putting the accent more on the utility of a certain method for a specific archaeological situation and less on the presentation of a sophisticated technique from the technical point of view.
The Symposium aims at presenting some theoretical aspects, examples, case studies and also the presentation of some specific problems / situations. Not in the last, we would like to discuss, to share specific problems to different countries.
Considering the theme of the Symposium, it is recommended that, if possible, the papers will be also presented in poster form (A0 format, portrait).

The program of this manifestations is:

Sunday, 23 October:
Welcoming the participants at Giurgiu County Museum. Registration
