5ª Conferencia Internacional: Ciencia y Tecnología en Arqueología y Conservación
7 al 10 de Julio de 2007 - Universidad Internacional de Andalucía Sede Antonio Machado, Baeza (Jaén) – España

El éxito de las primeras cuatro conferencias sobre Ciencia y Tecnología en Arqueología y Conservación, celebradas en Jordania, ha dado lugar a la organización de una quinta conferencia que se desarrollará por primera vez fuera de las fronteras jordanas.
Esta quinta conferencia tendrá lugar en Andalucía, y será organizada por la Fundación El Legado Andalusí, la Junta de Andalucía a través de sus Consejerías de Cultura y de Turismo, Comercio y Deporte, la ONG Watch (Asociación para la Protección del Patrimonio Cultural Tangible e Intangible en tiempo de conflicto armado), la Universidad Internacional de Andalucía (UNIA), y el Departamento de Antigüedades del Ministerio de Turismo de Jordania.
Cuenta con la colaboración de la Diputación Provincial de Jaén, el Ayuntamiento de Baeza, el Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional (Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperación de España) y del proyecto SUVOT (Turismo Sostenible y Vocacional).

Durante muchos siglos los antiguos sistemas hidráulicos han proporcionado al hombre unos recursos que le han ayudado a sobrevivir en un medio ambiente en ocasiones adverso. Estos sistemas también han ayudado a proteger el medioambiente y los hábitos naturales, incluyendo la fauna y flora que conforman nuestro ecosistema. Mientras que nuestras necesidades de agua han aumentado enormemente desde los tiempos antiguos, tenemos mucho que aprender de nuestros antecesores en las técnicas de aprovechamiento del agua.
2.- Turismo y patrimonio en riesgo.
En esta área se desarrollarán los siguientes grupos de trabajo:
• Patrimonio y conflictos armados: Cómo proteger el patrimonio
cultural en tiempo de guerra; la Convención de la Haya. Estudios específicos: Iraq, Palestina, Líbano, Europa del Este, y otros.
• Patrimonio común:Árabes y Bizantinos, las campañas de las Cruzadas. Intercambio cultural entre Oriente y Occidente.
• Desastres naturales y prevención de riegos.
• Lugares arqueológicos amenazados y proyectos de rescate.
• Proyectos posteriores a las excavaciones.
• El turismo: impacto positivo y negativo.
3.- Arqueología comparada. La arquitectura Omeya en Oriente y Andalucía.
La transmisión de la Ciencia y Tec-nología de los árabes en la Península Ibérica. Los beneficios de esta transmisión e intercambio cultural.
4.- El problema de preservación de la piedra y argamasa.
Estudios sobre desgaste y acción de restauración y conservación.
5.- La acústica en teatros de la antigüedad.
