4th International Summer School 3D MODELING IN ARCHAEOLOGY
AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

We are organizing the 4th International Summer School on "3D Modeling in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage" which will take place in Grosseto (Italy) on 29 August - 3 September, 2011.

The previous 3 editions where held in 2008 at Ascona (Switzerland), in 2009 at Trento (Italy) and 2010 at Durham (UK).

The scientific direction of the school is by Stefano Campana (University of Siena, Italy) and Fabio Remondino (FBK Trento, Italy).

The School aims to bring together young archaeologists and scientists, developers and advanced users from geo-informatics and related fields of application (photogrammetry, remote sensing, LiDAR, GIS, Cultural Heritage, architecture, environmental monitoring and mapping) to study and discuss the latest developments in digital recording and 3D modeling of complex objects and sites, with emphasis on those of Cultural Heritage
value.

The school will consist of theoretical and practical lectures, data
acquisition and processing, discussions and interactive labs.

The lecture TOPICS will be: geomatics techniques for Cultural Heritage documentation, airborne LiDAR and terrestrial 3D scanning technologies, photogrammetry, remote sensing and 3D GIS in Cultural Heritage.

The LABS will deal with satellite and terrestrial image processing, 3D modeling, LiDAR and terrestrial 3D scanning data processing, 3D data handling in GIS environments.

Certificates of participation and ECTS credits will be delivered upon
request and agreements with the organizers.

The REGISTRATION FEE of the school is 350 Euro and it includes the
participation to labs and theoretical lectures, the material of the
lectures, lunches, coffee-breaks, the welcome party and the social dinner of the event.

The DEADLINE for the registration is 15th July, 2011. Please send an email to Fabio Remondino (remondino@fbk.eu) with a CV in attachment.

We will host a max of 30 participants. The selection of the participants will be based on the CV and on the criteria first-come first-serve.

OBJECTIVES:

The School aims to bring together archaeologists and scientists, developers and advanced users from geomatics and related fields of application (photogrammetry, remote sensing, LiDAR, GIS, environmental monitoring and mapping) to study and discuss the latest developments in digital recording and 3D modeling of complex objects, contexts and landscapes with emphasis on those of Cultural Heritage value.

TARGET GROUP OF PARTICIPANTS:

PhD students, young researchers and intermediate users of new sensor technologies and methods for digital recording and modeling in environmental and heritage applications.
